Zumba Step combines the toning and strengthening power of step aerobic with the fun fitness routine that Zumba brings. We use a step to increase intensity but is not essential to participation. The class is split to include Zumba toning which adds resistance by using toning sticks (weights) to the workout which enhances the sense of rhythm while toning target muscle groups.
Equipment – you do not need a step to participate as all exercises can be done without. Alternatives are given so you can adapt. Do not create a step for yourself as this may not provide a stable base or be at correct height. Toning exercise routines again can be without toning sticks. If you have weights you should use nothing more than 2lbs or 1kg to prevent injury. You can use bottles of water as an alternative. All exercises can be without equipment but will be at a lower intensity.
